Beethoven Found to Present Concert Gala to Benefit VH1 Save The Music
Non-profit music organization Beethoven Found will hold a World Tour Concert Gala that will feature Beethoven’s rediscovered works. The red carpet event will be held on June 14, 2010 at 8 PM at the Kennedy Center Concert Hall in Washington, D.C. Proceeds from the concert will go directly to VH1 Save The Music to aid in their efforts to restore musical instruments and music education programs in America’s public schools.
Both organizations have very similar missions. Beethoven Found helps raise awareness in the general public of the importance of classical music education in youth. They strive to ensure that each child has an equal opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument by providing free instruments, resources, mentoring and performance opportunities to students around the United States. VH1 Save The Music’s core mission is to restore instrumental music education programs, ensuring that every child has access to a complete education that includes the benefits of music instruction.
This will be one of the most important classical music concerts ever staged. It will consist of two of Beethoven’s lost and rediscovered works, Overture to Macbeth and Andante from Oboe Concerto. Other performed works will include Fantasy for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra; Beethoven’s 5th Symphony in C Minor; and, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. These works will be performed by members of the National Symphony. Also performing are the students of the Auriel String Quartet of the Music Institute of Chicago who won a gold medal in the Fischoff National Chamber Competition for the Nation’s Outstanding Classical Musicians. They will be performing a movement from their award winning performance of Shostakovich’s String Quartet.
Beethoven Found Vice President and Master Oboist David Meyers will co-host the event with a fabulous guest celebrity.
Sponsors and patrons have been invited to this star-studded event, in addition to White House officials, senators, members of Congress, and influential cultural and business leaders. The concert will conclude at 10 PM at which time a black-tie-optional party will be held on the roof-top terrace of the Kennedy Center.
The concert gala is sure to be a spectacular night to remember for VH1 Save The Music, Beethoven Found, and most importantly, those deserving students in need of musical instruments!
