The Organization
Welcome to Beethoven Found, a not-for-profit organization based in Maryland and dedicated to raising the awareness of the general public about the importance of a classical music education. Through the selection of strategic school benefactors we help to ensure each child has an equal opportunity to learn a musical instrument by providing free instruments, resources, mentoring and performance opportunities to students around the United States as well as perform worldwide classical music programs geared towards our younger and future generations.
The primary sources of funding for Beethoven Found are revenues earned by the performance of classical music concerts at leading orchestral venues around the nation and around the world as well as personal and corporate donations. An integral part of the tour is to invite local youth orchestras or students in each city in which a performance is to be held to play in a special dress rehearsal with their mentors; a once in a lifetime opportunity for a young musician to play alongside members of the world’s greatest orchestras.
Around the country; children are struggling in school and in life and the United States is falling behind educationally which means we are falling behind as a nation. Once a leader in education and innovation; our declining social values and education system in the United States threatens the future of our nation as a leader and major player in the global economy.
Since children are our future, this means that our workforce will be less educated, less capable, and less motivated and will also mean that the future of this great country will fall into the hands of an increasingly under-educated and apathetic new generation.
Music and the mastery of an instrument can change lives in more ways that one can imagine. There are countless instances where a child, who was otherwise headed towards a life of drugs, poverty, crime, disability or an otherwise non-productive existence was literally saved because they fell in love with music and benefitted from the discipline and focus developed by playing and mastering an instrument. In fact, simply listening to classical music has been found to help the sick get better, relieve depression, and increase IQ in young children.
Numerous studies demonstrate that a student who plays a musical instrument or takes part in a school band has an 80% better chance of succeeding both academically at school and in their chosen vocation. For some children, finding music completely turns their life around and gives them the only hope they have for a brighter future. Through music, students can become better educated, more successful, and passionate advocates of classical music and artistic culture that is crucial to our continued societal development.
